Mikko Hildén has worked as a guitarist in Stockholm, Sweden for more than 10 years. He has recorded with Swedish artists such as Fre (EMI Sweden), Camilla Brinck (Virgin Sweden) and John Dahlbäck(Dessous Recordings Germany) and The Immanuel Gospel Choir. Hildén has also co-written songs for Immanuel Gospel and John Dahlbäck. Hildén has also done studio work in Paris and London with producer Wayne Beckford.
While residing in Sweden, Hilden toured with R&B band “Happy Medium” and Emma Andersson (a well-known TV celebrity in Sweden) and the R&B group “Fre ” who had the hit song sanning eller lögn. Hildén worked with Fre on many promotional performances on TV and even opened for Wyclef Jean at the Globe Arena in Stockholm.
In 2006 Hildén decided to go back to school and attend Humber College in Toronto, Canada, where he currently resides. He wanted to move on from playing pop and R&B to pursue his dream of playing Jazz. Since moving to Toronto Hildén has studied with world-renowned teachers such as Pat Labarbera and Ravi Naimpally. Hildén’s writing is inspired through a combination of influences rooted in Jazz, specifically the ECM style, and also the African and Indian origins.
Since attending Humber Hildén has won four different awards including the Gordon and Anne Wragg $6000 music scholarship award.
